Buying in person? Here's how to check the phone yourself before you pay.

Before the general checklist, check the specific points for refurbished iPhone and Android devices.

Refurbished iPhone

Priority: exact model, repaired parts, battery and Apple lock status.

  • Settings > General > About: model, storage, serial number and IMEI.
  • Parts and Service History: be careful with unknown parts.
  • Battery Health, Face ID/Touch ID, True Tone, cameras, mic and charging.
  • Find My/Activation Lock must be off before payment.

Refurbished Android

Priority: Google account removed, Play Protect certification and network functions.

  • Settings > About phone: model, storage, IMEI and serial number.
  • Play Store > Settings > About: Play Protect certification.
  • Test fingerprint/face, screen, cameras, charging, 4G/5G, Wi-Fi and GPS.
  • After reset, no previous Google account should be requested.
