How to tell if an iPhone battery was replaced
Check Battery Health and parts history in Settings, look for warnings, then test charging, heat and battery life. A replaced battery is not automatically bad, but it should be declared and reflected in the price.
Read system information
iOS gathers the first clues, although available menus depend on model and version.
- Open Settings, Battery, then Battery Health & Charging.
- Under General and About, look for Parts and Service History when available.
- Photograph any warning or unknown-part message before negotiating.
Test beyond the percentage
A high percentage does not rule out a poor part, heat or unstable battery life.
- Connect the phone and check it charges without interruptions or abnormal heat.
- Use camera and video for a few minutes, then watch the drop and temperature.
- Ask for the replacement receipt, date and repairer without assuming a warranty.
Adjust the decision
Judge transparency, repair quality and future cost, not just the word replaced.
- A declared part with a receipt is better than a hidden warning.
- Compare listings with the same storage, condition and declared battery.
- Walk away if the phone restarts, swells, overheats or the story changes.
